Have you ever thought you’d like to know more about pairing red wine with food or suggestions which white wine to serve with your dinner?  This ingenious, 100% organic cotton tea towel by Stuart Gardiner Design is the answer to your quest to find the perfect wine and food match. Easily stored in a draw (well it is a tea towel) or even framed in your kitchen you’ll have all the suggestions you need at your finger tips.Pairing Wine With Food Tea Towel

The wine pairing with food tea towel is handily made in two designs – pairing red wine and pairing white wine with food.
Each one has a key to let you know how well the wine and food match – ‘excellent pairing’, ‘good pairing’ or ‘avoid pairing’. Both the red and white version covers 34 popular styles – each one rated against 56 different food entries – that’s 1904 possible combos covered!

Wines are listed alphabetically and by their most commonly known name and the wine style

  • Acidity – High, Medium or Low
  • Body – Full, Medium  or Light
  • Tannins – High, Medium or Low.

Finally there are some simple pairing tips:

  • Think regional, Italian dishes go well with Italian wine, as does a Burgundy with a beef bourguignon
  • Simple food with complex wine and complex food with simple wine is the general rule. This allows the wine to stand out or blend with the food
  • Match the weight, select light bodied wines to pair with the lighter food, and fuller bodied wines to go with heartier dishes (e.g. pair a meaty stew with a bold red Rioja).
The pictures give you a real flavour (see what we did there?) of these pairing wine with food teatowels. They cost £10 each and we think they are the perfect gift for wine lovers. They are available to buy online at Colloco click here for the Red Wine Pairing Tea Towel and here for the White Wine Pairing Tea Towel

Cheers!

Here at Colloco we know that mugs make a great gift for men and women, nearly everybody uses a mug and it’s a safe gift idea. Well now you have the perfect gift for a photographer – the Into Focus Camera lens mug.

Styled in the manner of a DLSR lens this 310 ml ceramic mug also has a ‘lens cap’ to keep whatever the contents are warm and fresh for that bit longer and easily snaps on or off -cunningly the cap also doubles up as a coaster for the Camera Lens Mug.

This is our latest find – a new home to display our best selling Scrabble Mugs.Scrabble Mugs on our new sideboard

When we first took the Scrabble Mugs on in Autumn 2010, David from Wild & Wolf asked us if we were going to be  brave and stock the whole alphabet?

We thought  ’Why not?’ (apart from stocking 26 mugs in packs of 4) the challenge was how to display them in our shop.

For those of you who shop with us you will know our shop is pretty spacious but we still had a challenge. We used our Unto This Last console table as a stop gap but we knew we wanted something a little more ‘sideboardy’ – and this is our find on Leek’s regular antiques & collectors market.

And even better we can store our stock underneath so we don’t have to run up and down the stairs to our stock room to top up the Scrabble mugs  - you know, when a customer wants to spell SMILE or their friends initials.

You can order your Scrabble Mugs from our online store here or just call in to see our lovely sideboard!
